The Norwegian Veterinary Association
The Norwegian Veterinary Association is the professional association of Norwegian vets. All Norwegian veterinarians and veterinarians working in Norway can be members. The association was founded in 1888.
The mission statement of the association says that we work to enhance and protect our members economical, professional, collegiate and social interests. We contribute to the strengthening and development of the veterinary fields of interest in the society. We work to enhance education and research within veterinary medicine. We also promote a high professional ethical standard among our members and contribute to positive profiling of the veterinary profession in general.
The association negotiates wages and terms for its members. We also help members and groups of members with questions related to employment and salary. If you are a student, looking for your first job, or you have been offered a new position, we recommend that you always contact us first.
The association is an active lobbyist towards politicians and administrators to enhance the working conditions for its members. We have negotiated several deals and contracts from which our members benefit
We arrange several courses each year for continued professional development. Members of our association pay reduced fees.
The association publishes The Norwegian Veterinary Journal with 9 issues a year. All members receive the journal.
